Fire sprinklers offer new detection capabilities, marijuana sniffing.

Los Angeles firefighters discovered a marijuana-growing operation at a Hollywood residence Wednesday night after responding to a fire sprinkler system alarm, police said Thursday.Firefighters responding to the residence on Harold Way found several inches of water inside. They also saw the plants and notified police, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. One person was arrested on suspicion of growing marijuana, police said. No further details were immediately available.  LA Times Now we know why NAHB is against fire sprinklers in homes. Huh?

 

 

 

 
Organizations Sign Agreement to Advance Residential Fire Sprinklers

To address the huge upswing in demand for professionals who are accredited to install residential fire sprinkler systems driven by these new regulations, The Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE), the International Code Council (ICC), the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA), and the American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding during Fire Rescue International in Chicago, Illinois on August 27, 2010, to jointly advance and promote the mutual interest of fire protection safety and accreditation.  Read More

Which would you rather pay? The fire at the Rotonics Manufacturing Plant in Caldwell Tuesday  did $3,000,000 of damage including the building and contents. The 21,250 square foot structure would have cost an estimated  $30,000 to install automatic fire sprinklers. Also the fire sprinkler system would have paid for itself in insurance  premiums. Caldwell Fire Marshal Doug Brown said If the Rotonics building had had fire sprinkler protection, the chances are very good that the company would be back in production today, and all their employees would be back to work.
