Fire Sprinklers Take Control PDF Print E-mail

A fire at the Fibre paper mill in Longview WA. was controlled by the fire sprinkler system and Fibre's emergency response team until the Longview fire department arrived. The fire was caused by paper rubbing against a metal roller on the number 10 machine. The machine was being transitioned to paper from containerboard. Two Fibre employees were sent to St.John's Medical Center for smoke inhalation. The estimated damage was $4,000 to $5,000 for replacement of the fire sprinklers according to mill manager Randy Nebel. Once again tragedy avoided. Fire sprinklers save lives and property.
